From our earliest childhood memories of going to the temple with grandparents to seeing modern day parents speak to their kids, the same words echo – ‘Do Jai Jai’ or ‘Jai Jai karo’ (meaning: lets pray) - A fond and playful catchphrase that marks a child’s first interaction with faith.
Us, and our earlier generations had the gift of growing up with everyday things that helped us to learn, imbibe and form an everlasting relationship with our spirituality and heritage.
Now, as many of us who moved away from home, leading busy lives , raising kids in a multi-ethnic society, we seek simple ways to preserve and pass on our cultural values in ways that fits in our lifestyle . Kids as early as 6 months start recording memories. And we can start building early images into the child by introducing them to a friendly and relatable version of Hinduism to make them curious, connected and excited to learn more.
Toys are a child’s first friend. And through toys, we wish to bring the Gods to the kids, as a friend. From being a distant deity at an altar, we move to befriending the God in a physical form– a huggable plushie that helps the child build an emotional bond with the deity, and make explaining culture and stories easier for care-givers.
We have chance to leave a powerful legacy of positive values through playful characters, with our children. Through Jai Jai, we wish to help children connect with their faith and grown ups to reconnect with their roots in a tangible and relevant way. We wish to revive & celebrate our Hindu roots through fantastical childhood memories.
We hope you and your children grow with us.
